Blackpool Holiday

Even our holidays involve machines!

During the half term school break we decided to do a Staycation as it seems all the trend and a great way to support the UK. Well it was not for the weather!

We headed up to sunny Blackpool to see the illuminations and some fun along the front. It brought back a lot of memories of going there when I was young, buying sticks of rock. Eating big ice creams even on cold days and having fun on the pier in the arcades.

Three generations of us travelled to Blackpool, myself (Mark), my mother June Greig who still helps out at Comrie doing the book work and the future boss of Comrie, my 6 year old daughter Macy.

We all had lots of fun and I also learnt that there are plenty of people who still enjoy playing all the difference types of machines as the fruit machines, video games and pushes were all busy with holiday makers like ourselves playing the different machines for hours.

Having all the latest up to date machines also helps which we have here at Comrie. As when we install the latest machines our customers tell us how much better the machine is doing than the last machine they had.

So if you are looking for the latest fruit machine or digital gaming machine for your pub or social club then you will certainly earn more profit. Sorry we don’t do pusher machines but if you head to Blackpool pier there are some great one’s to play there as you can see from the pictures below. Two happy girls having fun :)

Comrie Will Bowl You Over

Another good fun works night out

Every few months we like to get the Comrie team together for a social night out. It might be a few beers at a local pub or as our last team night out a competitive night of indoor go-karting.

This time it was no different, we had a very competitive night of bowling mixed with a few drinks. Bragging rights at work the next day were at stake!

Comrie’s long standing engineer Justin was the favourite due to being a past regular weekly player at Ten Pin bowling. It did look like it was going to be Justin’s night during the practice session, but when the heat was on in the main game it was experience over youth that prevailed. The winner was the oldest team member Phil, who has not only received the long standing retirement watch but carries on with Comrie to pass his knowledge of fruit machines, jukeboxes and pool tables onto the younger team members.

He was also showing them how to bowl

The Pubs of Leicester

A Great Night Out Round The Pubs Of Leicester……..

At Comrie we do like to pay a visit to different public houses around the Midlands for a few beers when we are not hard at work keeping publicans fruit machines, jukeboxes, pool tables and all other coin operated machines working and earning.

It’s also a good way to drop in a business and get our name out there, not sure if we can claim the expenses back though!!

This night out was on a Saturday in October and we decided to head for Leicester, a very vibrant city with lots going on. We had our designated driver so no public transport tonight and Leicester was out oyster!

First stop was the Hare & Hounds in a village called Antsy in Leicestershire, a local regular’s pub and a great place to wet our taste buds and plan the night ahead. From there we headed up the road a few doors to The Crown Inn which is part of the Fat Cats family and classified as a “gastro pub”. It’s more like a local pub with a few nice touches! Nothing wrong with that as we are big fans of local pubs, and they do a good pint of San Migel in a branded glass, it always tastes better in the right glass.

Next stop is Leicester city centre.   We arrive at The Font, great bar in a student populated area of Leicester with a great mix of customers and they even had some video games like Point Blank for us while away the time, and get really competitive about who got the highest score!

Last stop on our beer tour was the beer highlight of the night, “The Pub” on New Walk Leicester, they had the best range of beer and real ale on tap we had seen for a while. “The Pub” had won best bar in Leicester two years running and we could see why, not only did they have great selection of beers but knowledgeable staff that  also recognised we were new faces and gave us a warm welcome. Now that’s a good excuse to order another North American beer called Blue Moon!

Last stop? What else to wash down some great beer and finish of great night, but a curry! We headed to Sands Curry House in Glenfield and we were not disappointed. We only just made it in time as the night had flown by. Great Curry to finish off and we will definitely be back to Leicester for another night out.

Thanks Leicester and see you soon from all at comrie automatics.
